Unit 8. The Civil War
This is our final unit of the year. In this unit we will be discussing the Causes of the Civil War, along with the battles and what happened after it was over.
We will also be focusing on Abraham Lincoln, the President during this conflict, and why he is often referred to as the best President the United States ever had. Sectionalism -- This assignment was handed out in class and students went along with a powerpoint in class to learn about the differences between the North and South
Abolitionist/Underground Railroad --Students will watch short video clips to get some answers and use the textbook for others. Kansas/Nebraska Act -- Students will learn how the Kansas/Nebraska act caused Bleeding Kansas The Dred Scott Case -- This covers the historical Dred Scott case, which helps students understand the way slaves were treated in America during this time. They need to read about the case and answer the questions. Study Guide -- The test covers the causes of the Civil War. Students will be given time in class to complete the study guide, and it will be collected on the day of the test. Test is on MAY 13, 2014. |
Key People of the Civil War -- Students will begin working on this after the test on Friday. Students will look up these people and write down information about them.
Election of 1860 and Secession -- Students use the Prezi (below) to learn about the Election of 1860 and how that led to the U.S.A splitting in two. |
